Parcels, Ross Onward Through Hell: Company L of Menominee, 125th Infantry Regiment, 32nd Division, At Hill 212 in World War I Menominee, MI Aurora Books 2007 0976009390 / 9780976009399 First Trade Paperback New No Jacket ix, 104 pages, illustrated with maps and black and white photographs. On July 31, 1918, at Hill 212 near Chateau-Thierry, France, Company L, 125th Infantry Regiment in the American Expeditionary Forces had as their baptism of fire to attack uphill against German machine gun nests during a crucial battle of World War I. By day's end, at least 33 men in a company of 200-215 soldiers had been killed: nine from Menominee, Michigan, alone. In Onward Through Hell, the author tells us what happened to Company L on that day and its aftermath, even including an essay on the National Archives' "Burial Case Files" of the Menominee soldiers killed at Hill 212. The book also explores anti-German sentiment and propaganda in Menominee in the summer of 1918, when the town organized a massive book burning and waited anxiously for news of "their boys." Meticulously researched and a fitting memorial to Company L. Price:
